OCD Treatment That Stays Focused on the POINT
Do you experience distressing and unwanted thoughts or doubts that leave you stuck mentally reviewing situations, checking, or searching for certainty? What you are struggling with may be OCD.
What does ERP look like?
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) involves intentionally approaching thoughts, situations, and uncertainty that trigger the OCD cycle while practicing resisting compulsions and avoidance. Together, we’ll develop activities that help you respond differently to OCD and move toward the life you want, even when discomfort or uncertainty is present.
Your initial session:
In our initial 90-minute session, we’ll identify the main concerns bringing you to therapy, build an understanding of what keeps you stuck, and discuss what treatment looks like. We’ll begin creating a treatment plan together so you leave with a clearer understanding of next steps.
From our first session forward, we’ll stay focused on the POINT of therapy:
P - Prioritize Your Main Concerns
O - Organize Goals
I - Initiate Evidence-Based Treatment
N - Navigate Barriers and Progress
T - Take the Necessary Time
Ongoing sessions:
After the initial session, we’ll typically meet weekly for 50 minutes. Sessions will include reviewing your progress, practicing ERP together, and planning activities to work on between appointments.
My approach is direct and encouraging, with room for humor and the reality that this work can be challenging. We’ll work toward greater freedom to live your values, even in the face of anxiety, discomfort, and uncertainty.
For planning purposes, we may begin with an estimated 12–20 sessions. Your recommended treatment length will depend on your symptoms, goals, and progress. We’ll regularly review what’s helping, work through barriers, and adjust the plan together.
